Reactivation of MRP Planning Data

Use

Usually, the master plan is adjusted in the planning run to adapt it to either new dates or quantities. If a requirements quantity was increased, the system automatically adjusts the quantity of the corresponding order proposal. An additional control indicator (the planning mode) is given if changes are made in the BOM or in Customizing to make these changes relevant to the planning run.

The planning mode controls how the system is to deal with order proposals (planned orders, purchase requisitions, scheduling agreement lines, etc.) from the last planning run with quantities and finish dates that still suit the new requirements situation and are not yet firmed.

Features

The planning mode is automatically set in the planning file and you can also enter it in the initial screen of the planning run.

In the planning file, the following planning modes are specified:

  • Planning mode 1

If the changes involve changes to the date or to quantities, the existing planning data is reactivated. Then the material receives no indicator for the planning mode in the planning file (corresponds to planning mode 1 in the initial screen of the planning file). Performance is improved by reactivating planning data. Order proposals remain unchanged on the database. The system only creates new receipt elements if the already existing elements no longer suit the new planning situation.

  • Planning mode 2

If the BOM of a particular material has been changed, this material is provided with the planning mode for re-exploding the BOM (planning mode 2 in initial screen of the planning run) as well as the net change planning indicator and the total change indicator. The BOMs are re-exploded in the planning run for the order proposals, but rescheduling does not occur.

  • Planning mode 3

For certain material master changes (for example, changes to in-house production time, planned delivery time, scheduling margin key, MRP controller or production version), the material also receives the planning mode for recreating the order proposals in the planning file (planning mode 3 in the initial screen). The system recreates order proposals. That is, the old order proposals are deleted from the database and new ones are created. The BOMs are re-exploded and rescheduling is carried out.

The planning mode set in the planning file for a material can be overruled by the planning mode in the initial screen of the planning run. Here, the following is valid: for planning a particular material, the indicator that has the highest numerical value has priority. The following table shows which planning mode has the higher priority:

It is usually sufficient to set planning mode 1 in the initial screen of the planning run. If you have to process a material with another planning mode, then you must set the corresponding planning mode in the planning file. The system then reads the information in the planning run.

It is important to set the planning run to planning mode 2 or 3 in the initial screen if changes have been made in Customizing for MRP, because no planning file entries are created for the materials affected by these changes .

If you change the processing time for purchasing in the plant parameters in Customizing for MRP, then the system only takes this change into account for existing order proposals if you set the planning mode to 3 in the initial screen of the planning run.
